WORDS ON THE STREET: MARKET EDITION.

Nysc Editorial Egor LGA, Edo State.

The Editorials CDS Group market survey.

The CDs Group on the 28th of August selected some of its members to carry out a survey on the main causes of hike in price of food stuff in the market.

It is no longer news there has been drastic increase in cost of goods generally but most devastatingly food stuffs since it's what everyone needs for survival.

The purpose was to know the causes of the hike in price of food stuff and the preventive measures.

Uselu market was selected for the survey and some of the traders were interviewed in with the aim of knowing individual challenges defending on the choice of market.

Mrs Comfort, who chose to trade on tomatoes told the reporters that every food stuff in the market has its season. adding that Tomatoes is so expensive now because it is not in season. With her years of experience with trade, she concluded that trade in general deals with economy; when the economy is good, automatically everything becomes less expensive including food stuffs. According to her, the price of pepper in the market will soon reduce as we are reaching it season.

Mrs Victoria, another trader in the market who had effortlessly granted the reporters her audience and readily answered all of their questions - trade on yam and Garri(cassava flakes) and had explained that the way price of goods are in the market could be as a result of high demand. She further explained that most times, if they have a lot of customers demanding for their goods these could also make them to increase the price of food items. She also added that the price of Garri(cassava flakes) supposed to have reduce but had no idea why the price still remained the same - in which she thought it could be due to the fact that Garri is made with cassava and cassava itself is used to produce several food produce such as all purpose flour, Fufu and Garri itself.

She also said that prices of Garri and other food stuff would reduce soon as most food stuff are approaching its season which in turn align with what Mrs Comfort concluded.
