EXCERPTS FROM LAST WEEK II

 




Protect Our Planet initiative: A non governmental organisation collaborates with ministry of environment, Edo State to train Corps Members in Egor LGA on the need to protect the environment.

Aim:

The essence of the project was to enlighten Corp Members on the need for

sustainable environmental practices and transition into green economy which 

could serve as means of job creation and livelihood after their service year 

and as well promote green and clean environment in Edo state. 

The POP Nigeria Initiative is envisioned in Educating people(both young and old) on the essence of climate change and how to tackle climate issues in their environment. As part of the process to tackle the dangers of climate change and activate youth as climate actors, leaders and advocates in various communities across Nigeria, and ultimately, Africa at large, are trained.

The POP Nigeria Initiative leverages on Climate Education to promote sustainable environmental practices and livelihoods, while advocating for low carbon options and responsible production by companies and industries through advocacy, dialogue, campaigns, and meaningful stakeholder engagement.

Summary/ Lesson(s) Learnt/ Innovation 

The program was a massive success as all the activities planned was executed which includes: Education on green economy transition in Nigeria, with target aimed at training group members in Edo state on waste disposal, sorting of waste, clean-up, planting of economy plants and green walk to reduce carbon foot print.


The training infused important experiences and skills about climate impact education as well as the effects and recommendations for protection of the environment. 

Youth team are empowered to take action 

through advocacy with practical engagement.
