DEPRESSION: A POWERFUL SOURCE OF FAILURE

There is more focus on intelligence quotient (IQ) as a powerful source of achieving great things in life. This is because intelligence is the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations. Therefore, many people believe being intelligent is tantamount to being successful and they also believe being intelligent is equivalent to being at the top of their games.

Meanwhile, there is one thing that can determine how far and how logical we can go in life. The thing is our state of emotions. Although we focus more on IQ, the most powerful source of motivation is embedded in our EQ (emotional Quotient). Our emotions determine how we see things, how we perceive things, how we relate with people and our judgmental attitude towards life.

As a matter of fact, many people have failed in life because of their negative emotions towards life which its primary factor is depression. Depression has caused a lot of damages in all ramifications of many people's lives - marital, work, spiritual, social etc. It has made a lot of people lost their self-confidence and also robbed them of their self-image which brought about a low self-esteem that led to their unprecedented failure.

Characteristically, depression is a state of mind. It bends the mind to go astray as it fills the mind with environmental and psychological dirt. Also, it deprives the mind of critical thinking, especially thinking outside the box. A lot of graduates are suffering from this puzzling phenomenon because of the state of the country.

One dangerous thing about depression is that it makes someone focus on a particular thing without paying attention to different opportunities around him. This is why depression is a source of failure for many people. Many people have given up on life and many people have decided to kill themselves. Meanwhile, we should not forget that we are the gate-keeper of our mind. That is, we decide what will enter and what will not.

Depression is just a state of the mind. We can get off it by thinking on solution rather than the problem. This means we should focus on what to do not what is not meant to be. We can get out of its trap by writing down or discussing what we are going through with someone we can confide in. Just let what you are thinking out, laugh it off and have a positive mind that what you are going through will not be permanent. Do not permit depression but rather decide to be happy and focus on solutions to your problem. Depression kills faster so do not live with it. You should choose to live a happy life.
